Remember when you used to watch The Price Is Right and they'd give away a washer and dryer set as a prizes? Well, I do and I remember how much I thought those prizes sucked. No glitz and no glamour. Boring.
Today, I'd give just about anything to have the chance to win one of those.
Our washing machine went up in smoke this afternoon. Literally. The fire alarm called me to the laundry room and there was water all over the floor and smoke all above. Luckily, the breaker tripped and a major disaster was avoided. The dryer survived, but the washer has gone the way of Tofino's water supply.

London Calling
We've reached our third day in Ontario and it's not a stretch to suggest that Indy is having the time of her life. Each morning she wakes up to breakfast, playtime with Coda, a walk, and yet more playtime with Coda. Not a bad vacation for a dog if I ever saw one.

August 21, 2006: Coda leads the way.

August 21, 2006: Huffing & puffing.

London is pretty much as I remember it -- with more development. New buildings stand and new roads lay where there used to be empty fields of wild grass and bush. London is littering its outer limits with townhouse development projects just as Surrey does. It seems that the housing boom isn't limited to the West Coast alone.
Last night, Zach had a soccer game under a beautiful blue sky. To be honest, I can't recall the score line due to the large number of goals and chances at both ends. But Zach did contribute to his team's performance on defence with a spectacular goal-line save in the first half. Suzy may have a game on Thursday night to round off our London Soccer experience.

Today, we're planning a trip to the driving range to be followed by some ribs for dinner. "I want my baby-back, baby-back, baby-back, baby-back..... ribs." Tomorrow Jay goes back to work in the afternoons, so today is the last day for a family-style dinner.

Family Visits
I've so far failed to mention that Zach & Suzy, our nephew & neice from The Centre of the Universe have come to visit for a couple of weeks. Zach is busy during the first week at a sailing course down at Jericho Beach while Suzy is spending her afternoons learning to ride horses in Southlands. Next week it'll be up to us to come up with some new activities for them.
And tonight, Catherine and Deb are coming for the weekend for a dog training workshop. Of course the house will be chock-full of dogs. Briar, Kaos, Bailiff and Beamer have all come down to give Kirby & Indy the time of their lives. -- Well, maybe not Kirby.
Next week, Kristina will be back to coaching soccer each morning. It's her last week of working until we both get to enjoy the rest of the summer together. This week together has been both productive and relaxing.

Thank You
We received numerous emails and phone calls congratulating us on our first anniversary Sunday. Kristina & I were delighted with your best wishes and thoughts and were frankly surprised that everyone remembered! In Kristina's words: "That's so sweet!"
We spent our anniversary wakeboarding (naturally) at Ruby Lake, with our good friends Chandra and Jen & Geoff. The weather was fantastic, the water was great, and the boat was mechanically sound (which is always a good thing!).
Wakeboarding on our anniversary was a wonderful reminder of our honeymoon in Mexico. Club Med was so full of activities that to be lazy on our anniversary wouldn't have done it justice. I imagine this just might become a wakeboarding/martial tradition.
